Dear Mama!
By Henry Ekwuruke

Mama, mama
teach me honesty
instruct me with knowledge,
the wit as of old

I respect elders
no double truth in mouth,
watch me laugh with courage,
for your intelligence speaks

Mama, mama
speak to my heart and my head,
sinks in assimilation,
for life lived equal enjoyed,
bite your heart in confirmation

I used to dance naked to markets,
re-energize my inner sycosis,
and still give direction to my way-ward self,
incase power corrupts my conscience, dear mama.

Remain loyal to those that we love,
keep the evidences in kind,
protect your kid son as close as queen,
you gave me hope - smile without limits!
