Court Confirms Abia Governor

A Court of Appeal today at Port Harcourt returned the incumbent Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji of the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) as the duly elected governor of Abia State after a long legal tussle.

The Court precided over by Justice S.A. Ibieye concluded that since Chief Orji obtained the highest number of votes at the April 14th, 2007 election, there is no need for a Tribunal to declare another as elected.

It was a moment of joy in Umuahia as people were seen everywhere rejoicing at outcome of the Appeal but commenting on the victory, Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim described the judgment as 'wise and the right outcome'
